I really wanted to love this book. The sections describing LPR, how it works and how acidic food affects you are well presented, sufficiently thorough and easy to understand. Where it falls apart for me is when they describe how to deal with the problem. The idea is to go on a limited diet for 2 weeks, allowing your throat to heal, then scale back but continue to limit acids. The problem is that they leave a LOT of unanswered questions... like what you CAN eat. Many words are used to tell you not to eat packaged foods and soda pop. Personally I don't eat like that anyway. Can I eat nuts? Beans? Olives? Is dry fruit OK? There are very limited yes/no food lists with acidity content but the lists are short and some major food groups are not listed at all. To make matters worse the recipes include many of the foods they tell you not to eat. There is some mention that they're using those ingredients in limited quantities but, in other parts of the book, they tell you to avoid them at all costs. They also mention that you should look at their blog to get more information but the blog seems to have been used to initially market the book and has been ignored ever since. It has a few articles but little helpful information.Wish list for this book:1) A more complete food list which includes whole foods I can cook with.2) If it's OK to use "limited quantities" of some acidic foods, tell me how that works so I can make my own choices. Don't tell me not to eat lemons but include them in your recipes.3) A description of the reintroduction plan. They barely cover this topic. How does the diet change after two weeks? And do I stay in this phase forever? The book doesn't answer these questions.I almost never write reviews but I'm really bothered by the inconsistencies in this book. It has important information on a topic that's difficult to research but the most important part (how to heal) is woefully incomplete. I give it two stars for the educational information but minus three for the frustration it has added to researching a health topic.
